"Lonnie Rodger Shrewsbury went to be with the Lord at age 50 in Grafton, WV on April 2nd, 2018 due to heart disease. The funeral services will be held on April 7th, 2018 at Tankersley Funeral Home in Mullens, WV. Ricky Lance Shrewsbury, a relative, friend, and preacher will be officiating. Visitation of friends and family will be held from 12pm-1pm and the funeral will begin at 1pm; burial will follow immediately after the funeral at the John Riley Shrewsbury cemetery in Herndon. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers: Mark Walls, Joshua Milam, Adam McBride, Derick Milam, Nathan Milam, and Russell McBride."Lonnie was born in Mullens, WV on February 7th, 1968 to the late Nathan Rodger and Bonnie Gayle (Mills) Shrewsbury. He graduated from Herndon High School in 1986 and was a member of the football team. He went on to work as a coal miner, construction worker, and carpenter. He found enjoyment in watching NASCAR, working on vehicles, and making people laugh.
"Lonnie joined his parents in Heaven, Nathan Rodger and Bonnie Gayle (Mills) Shrewsbury.
"Lonnie is survived by four siblings—Brenda Walls and husband Mark Walls of Stephenson, WV, Natalie McBride of Hickory, NC, Nola Milam of Covel, WV and Lennie Shrewsbury of Herndon, WV. Also left to cherish his memory are two sons, Brandon Shrewsbury and Cody Shrewsbury of Webster County, WV and one daughter, Dana Shrewsbury of Stephenson, WV.
"Lonnie was a loving son, brother, father, and friend. During his last 5 years of life, he had found great peace within himself while also finding faith in the Lord. He will always be remembered for his bright personality, sense of humor, and his unconditional love for those special people in his life. He was a beautiful, kind soul with a golden heart.
"We will never forget, and always miss Lonnie’s kind heart, loving nature, and most of all, his never-ending, mischievous, unexpected, honest, inappropriate, unforgettable, and fabulous sense of humor.
