"James Johnson Lusk of Cyclone, West Virginia passed away on Thursday November 26, 2020 surrounded by his family and holding the hand of his loving wife of 62 years Beulah, whom had stayed by his side throughout his long illness. James was born on February 11, 1939 in Cyclone, West Virginia to Drewey and Lunda (Cook) Lusk. James was employed for 34 years as a coal miner and worked at Eastern Associated Coal’s Kopperston mine. James was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping prior to his illness. He also spent hours in his outbuilding working on lawn mowers, chain saws and weed eaters for family, friends, and neighbors. He never accepted any payment for the work, since it was something he loved to do. As his illness progressed, James enjoyed sitting on his back porch or at his kitchen table telling stories about coal mining, coon hunting and camping trips to Greenbrier county. He would often reminisce about hunting and trout fishing with his father-in-law Wilburn Bailey, whom he loved so very much and who always treated him like a son. James is preceded in death by his parents Drewey and Lunda (Cook) Lusk, his brother Carlos and wife Easter (Cook) Lusk, sister Charlotte (Lusk) Osborne and her husband Minnis, sister Joyce (Lusk) Bailey, father-in-law and mother-in-law Wilburn Bailey and Ruth (Cook) Bailey, brother-in-law Ernest (Ernie) Bailey and his wife Grace (Morgan) Bailey, son-in-law Michael Fleshman and his loving son Steven Lusk. James is survived by his wife Beulah (Bailey) Lusk, daughter Tammy (Lusk) Fleshman, son Jeffrey Lusk, grandchildren John Michael Fleshman, Emily Ruth Fleshman, Heather Leigh Howard, two special sisters Alice (Lusk) Murphy and Lena (Lusk) Osborne and numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews and nieces. The family wishes to say thank you to everyone who visited him during his illness. They would also like to give a special thank you to Carroll Gene Lusk, a loving neighbor, for helping out with so many things over the years, Julia Marino and Ivy Sovine for helping take care of James during his final days of illness and Cheri Hughes for helping the family fulfill their wishes. The family has chosen not to have a formal funeral service to keep family and friends safe."
