"IAEGER Mary Jane Bright, age 87, of Iaeger, W.Va., formerly of Bluefield, W.Va., died peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, June 26, 2010, at the residence of her son in Iaeger. Born October 9, 1922 in Pittsburg, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Joe and Anna Romans Gill."Working in the profession she loved, she was a nurse at Grace Hospital and Stevens Clinic Hospital in Welch. She later worked as the school nurse at Bluefield State College from 1967-1975, after which she worked at Bluefield Regional Medical Center until her retirement. Her final job was as a teacher's aide for Mercer County Schools.
"In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Lola Jane Bright; and her beloved granddaughter, Terry Lynn Bingham, who died on May 13, 2010.
"Survivors include her son, Harold "Sandy" Bright and wife, Elinor of Iaeger, with whom she had made her home for the past 2 1/2 months; her daughter, Lawanna "Pat" Steele of Bluefield, W.Va.; her three remaining grandchildren, whom she loved so much, E.A. "Buffy" Bailey of Greensboro, N.C., Natalie Bright Ayscue and husband Scott of Raleigh, N.C. and Eric L. Bright also of Raleigh, N.C.; three great-grandsons, Gregory Bingham of Frankfort, Ky., and Jordan and Logan Ayscue of Raleigh, N.C.; and three great-great-grandchildren, Eliya Faith Bingham, Jayden Scott Bingham and Dylan Blake Bingham, all of Frankfort, Ky.; two half-brothers, Allen Stone of Matheny, W.Va. and Junior Stone of Kentucky; and her "best friend," Joan Turner of Iaeger; plus a host of other family and friends.
"In honoring her wishes, she has been cremated. A celebration of her life will be held on Friday, July 2, 2010 at Trinity United Methodist Church on College Avenue, Bluefield, W.Va., where friends may visit with the family from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. A brief service will be held at 7:00 p.m., with the Reverend Don Scott officiating.

He made many friends over the years while traveling to well sites in McDowell and Wyoming counties. He loved his grandchildren and enjoyed many different kinds of gospel music."He was also preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Lee Simmons, one brother, Robert M. Simmons, Jr., of Cool Ridge, WV, and brothers-in-law, Eugene Campbell and Virgil Fisher."He is survived by two daughters, Peggy and Mike Goode, of Pineville, and Kim Simmons and Lynne Varcoe, of Proctorville, OH, two sisters, Joyce Campbell of Yorktown, Virginia, and Betty Fisher, of Sevierville, TN, one grandson, Jeff Goode and his wife, Brittany, of Charleston, WV, and one granddaughter, Ashleigh Goode and J.
