"PINEVILLE — Henrietta Cook Martoe Muhlbrandt, 83, of Pineville, passed away Thursday, March 31, 2011, in Wyoming Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, New Richmond, following a long illness. "Born April 19, 1927, at Pineville, she was the daughter of the late Charles W. and Mamie L. Beverly Cook. "Henrietta was a member of Cook Memorial Baptist Church. She enjoyed her family and was known for her Italian cooking. She was the last living survivor of her immediate family. "In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Joe Martoe; her second husband, Peter Muhlbrandt; a sister, Rita Thompson; and two brothers, the Rev. Paul Cook and Charles W. “Buddy” Cook Jr. "Survivors include a son, Charles Michael Martoe and his wife, Laurie, of Vero Beach, FL; a daughter, Teresa Calhoun and her husband, John, of Mullens; five grandchildren: Danny and Mike Martoe and Joe and Jennifer Stallings and stepgranddaughter, Jenny Ann Lusk; six great-grandchildren, Joe, Jr., John and Robert Stallings; Mikey and Nicky Martoe, Zoi Martoe; and two stepgrandsons, John Paul and Andrew Lusk; two sisters-in-law, Clara Dee Cook of Pineville and Debby Cook of Hickory, NC; and many nieces and nephews. "A celebration of Henrietta’s life will be 11 a.m. Monday, April 4, 2011, in Calfee Funeral Service Chapel, Pineville. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny...."

"GRANDVIEW — Hugh M. Cook, Jr., 89, of Grandview, died Saturday, March 4, 2006, at the Heartland of Beckley Nursing Home, following a long illness. "Born on February 11, 1917 at Clear Fork, he was the son of the late Hugh M. Cook, Sr., and Martha Toler Cook. "Mr. Cook was a retired school teacher for the Wyoming County Board of Education, last teaching at Baileysville Elementary School. He was a graduate of Oceana High School and was a graduate of Concord College. He was a member of the Sun Hill Methodist Church, and had made his home at Grandview for the past 35 years. "He was preceded in death by a sister, Neva Cook. "Survivors include his wife of nearly 66 years, Edith L. Hatfield Cook; two daughters, Judy Cook Hamby and husband Kermit of Tennessee and Kathryn Ann Toler and husband Billy Ray of Kopperston; a brother, Eugene Cook of Oceana; two grandchildren, Becky Herron and Cindy Blagg; and great-grandchild, Mary Beth Blagg. "Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel in Beckley, with Pastor Oscar Schwitzerlette officiating. Entombment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park Mausoleum in Beckley..."

"Born on May 14, 1921, at Simon, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Charlie and Lucinda Hatfield. "Mrs. Cook was a homemaker, and attended the Grandview Christian Church at Grandview. "She had made her home at Grandview for over 39 years, having formerly lived in Wyoming County. "Mrs. Cook was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh Cook; a daughter, Judy Hamby, and by several brothers and sisters. "Surviving are a daughter, Kathyrn Toler and her husband Bill of Kopperston; two granddaughters, Cindy Blagg and husband David of Brandenton, Fla., Beckie Hamby of Dayton, Ohio; one great-granddaughter, Mary Beth Blagg of Brandenton, Fla.; a sister, Notie Toler of Bristol, Tenn., and several nieces and nephews also survive. "Committal services will be held 3 p.m. Friday, Feb. 12, 2010, at Sunset Memorial Park Mausoleum, Beckley, with Pastor Terry Newton officiating...."
