"He was born on July 27, 1921, in Warrensville, N.C., to the late Jesse and Bonnie Wyatt Day. He was a member and Pastor Emeritus of Cornatzer Baptist Church. "In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Blanche Powers and Pauline Bailey; and one brother, Verner Day. "Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Hope McClung Day; four children, Bonnie (David) Washburn, Warren (Junette) Day, Danny (Jane) Day and Lois (Larry) Carter; nine grandchildren, Amy, Davy, Andy, Jason, Jennifer, Justin, Clint, Sara and Hope; seven great-grandchildren, Jacob, Trevor, Tyler, Nathaniel, Aubrey, Cade and Timothy; one sister, Daphine Acord ; and one brother, the Rev. Robert Day. "Preacher Day’s life and service will be honored and remembered at Cornatzer Baptist Church Saturday, Dec. 20. The body will be placed in the church 10 to 11 a.m. The service will begin at 11 a.m., with Pastor Jeff Beverly officiating. The family will receive friends in the fellowship building after the service. "Preacher Day served as pastor of Cornatzer Baptist Church in Davie County for 36 years. He also served as pastor at Smith Grove Baptist Church in Davidson County, N.C., and at Lookout Baptist Church in Fayette County, W.Va. "In addition to his pastoral ministry, the Rev. Day taught at Piedmont Baptist College in Winston-Salem, N.C., and was an Emeritus member of the General Council of Baptist Mid-Missions in Cleveland, Ohio. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served under Gen. Douglas MacArthur in the Philippines during World War II..."

Cook and Rosa Jane Farmer Cook in Glen Rogers, WV. "She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Amos E. Green, one sister Wavie Swim and three brothers, Chafin Cook, Verdun Cook and Argone Cook. "Those left to mourn her passing are her daughter, Vera Henrichs of Mechanicsville, MD; granddaughter, Lynne Chick and husband Joseph of Mechanicsville, MD; grandsons, Stephen Henrichs and wife Diana of Quartzsite, AZ, and Jonathan Henrichs and wife Marsha of Lusby, MD. She is also survived by two great-granddaughters Kathryn Chick of Arlington, VA, and Melanie Chick of Mechanicsville, MD, and one nephew, Bobby Swim of Glen Fork, WV. "She also leaves behind two dear friends, her caregivers, Ruby Green and Sonja Osborne. "Mrs. Green became a member of the First Baptist Church of Welch in 1951. She was a Past Worthy High Priestess of the Welch Chapter of the White Shrine; she was a member of the Welch Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, and was active in various women’s clubs in McDowell and Wyoming Counties. "She will be sadly missed by those who knew and loved her. "Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. on Monday, April 4, 2011, at Roselawn Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. with Pastor C.T. Lilly officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Cemetery..."
