"CORINNE BOTTOM — Avery David “Abe” Dunford, 85, of Corinne Bottom, formerly of New Richmond, was called to Heaven, on Sunday, March 20, 2011, in a Morgantown hospital following a long illness."Born May 25, 1925, at Itmann, he was the son of the late Robert Lee and Josephine (Pennington) Dunford."Mr. Dunford was a former coal miner with 35 years of service retiring from Consolidated Coal Company at Itmann, was a member of UMWA, for a short time he was a barber at New Richmond, and was Baptist by faith."Mr. Dunford was a veteran of WWII having served in the U.S. Army in the 17th Airborne Division Company H, 194th Glider Infantry. "BUD MOUNTAIN — Mart "Papaw" Lane, 84, of Bud Mountain, went to be with his Lord on Sunday, May 26, 2013 at his home following a long illness."Mart was born September 23, 1928, on Bud Mountain, to the late Lewis "Henry" Lane (1897-1961) and Sarah Tolliver-Lane (1894-1954).
"He was a lifelong resident of Bud Mountain where he worked in the timber industry. He also worked for the City of Mullens. He was a devoted husband, dad, papaw and granddad.
"Mart was a living example of an honorable gentleman. His word and a handshake were the only contract he ever needed. "Big Mart" was well known as a handy man and a farmer. He fixed numerous lawnmowers and chainsaws for neighbors and was always tending to his lawn. After a hard day of work, he could be found relaxing on his front porch with his wife, playing with his dogs, listening to bluegrass music and visiting with friends.
"In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Mary Jane Lane (1968-1968); a brother, Nelson "Amos" Lane (1921-2006); sisters, Bertie Lane-Mullins (Deceased), Dolly Lane-Buchanon (1918-Deceased), Carrie Ellen Lane-Dunford (1924-2009), Bethel Lane (Deceased); and a daughter-in-law, Deborah Sue Hale-Lane (1955-2011).

"Laura Irene McComas Lane, 93, of Bud Mountain went to be with her Lord on December 24, 2019 following a long illness."Born July 5, 1926 at White Oak, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary McComas. Laura was a lifelong resident of Bud Mountain and a homemaker. Affectionately known as “Mawmaw”, Laura was known for her country cooking and always had a pot of brown beans and a pan of cornbread ready for any visitors that might stop in unannounced. Her recipes consisted of measurements like a “dab, tad or a pinch” because, as she put it, “you just know.” She also enjoyed gardening, canning and quilting. Prior to her illness, you could find Laura, her husband and grandkids taking an evening walk, watching birds and picking flowers.
