He was born April 5, 1956 in Man, WV, a son of James Harold and Georgina “Gina” Ferrari Maynard, Sr.. Jimmy was a coal miner having worked at Kopperston and Harris Mines, a member UMWA Locals 7604 and 1503, and a US Army Veteran. He was preceded in death by his wife Tammy Lynn Velos Maynard; son Thomas Chad Maynard; and a special uncle Alfred Gibson. Survivors include a son James Harold Maynard, III and companion Rebecca Lamb of Crany, WV; a granddaughter Tammy Ann Maynard of Crany, WV; his parents James Harold and Georgina “Gina” Ferrari Maynard, Sr. of Lillyhaven, WV; a sister Tina Maynard Redden and husband Billy of Oceana, WV; two brothers Johnny Josef Maynard and wife Regina of Fayetteville, WV and Donald Maynard and wife Charlene of Oceana, WV; nieces and nephews Misty Willard, Christy Plumley, Danelle Perez, John Maynard, Jr., Ashley Clark, Shannon Redden and Clifford Blankenship; a special nephew Kody Blackburn; great nieces and nephew Allyson Plumley, Dillon Blankenship and Mercedes Blankenship; an uncle Ronald Lee Maynard and wife Merle; and a host of other loving family and friends. He was a retired coal miner from Consolidated Coal Company after 41 years of service. He worked at Deerfield and Itmann and was a member of U.M.W.A. Local 9690. "Jim was a devout Christian and a loving father who dedicated his life in service to others. "In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Gid Maynard and Norville Maynard. "Louis Arcidy, 79, a noted pioneer in the development and manufacture of electronic components, died Sept. 13, 2004, at Brigham and Women’s Hospital after a period of declining health due to aplastic anemia.
"Mr. Arcidy was born Dec. 7, 1924, in Lawrence, Mass., the son of Alfred and Carmela (Simone) Arcidy. He was the second oldest of four boys and one girl.
"Mr. Arcidy was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.
"He graduated from Lawrence (Mass.) High School and St. Michael’s College. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War.
"In 1973, he founded RCD Components in Manchester. As a son of Italian immigrant parents, he believed in the American dream, and wanted to share that dream with others by providing job opportunities and highest quality products. His product designs have been utilized in a variety of space flights, medial and electronic applications.
"He was a hardworking generous man with a kind heart, who enjoyed meeting and conversing with all kinds of people, even strangers. He was actively involved in numerous charitable organizations and was the sole benefactor of the Franklin Academy, a high school in southern Maine for troubled teens.
"He spent summers at Old Orchard Beach, Maine, where he loved to play bocce with his sons and friends.
"He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Malinda (Maynard) Arcidy; one daughter, Maria Grisanzio; four sons, Louis, Michael, Mark and Alfred; 12 grandchildren; a sister, Dorothy Gangi; three brothers, Mike Arcidiacono, Dr. Joseph Arcidi, and Dr. Alfred Arcidi.
"Mr. Arcidy was the June 2004 recipient of the Governor’s Commendation for 31 years of distinguished service to the New Hampshire community, entrepreneurial spirit, philanthropy, and commitment to excellence. Gov. Benson presented the award at RCD’s headquarters in Manchester, and honored him for having received Entrepreneur of the Year Award and developed his company into one of New Hampshire’s top 100 corporations.
