"Delila Nunn, 79, of Rushsylvania, formerly of Pineville, W. Va., died Monday, June 26, 2006, at her home with her family at her side after an extended illness. "A loving and devoted homemaker, she filled her family's lives with joy, love, and adoring appreciation. She was generous and kind-hearted and was a blessing to all of those who knew her. "She formerly attended the Otsego Church of Christ in Otsego, W.Va., and had also attended the Bellefontaine Church of Christ and the Kenton Church of Christ. "She graduated from Phelps High School in 1945. She enjoyed fishing, playing games, working puzzles and crafts. Her greatest joy came when surrounded by her family. "She was born April 15, 1927, in Sharondale, Ky., to the late Charlie and Bessie Moore Thornhill. She married Teddie Nunn on Dec. 1, 1945, in Freeburn, Ky., and he preceded her in death on March 27, 1997. She also was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Amy Nunn; two sisters, Irene Preece and Alice Hyden; three brothers, Lee Thornhill, Charles "Junior" Thornhill and John Thornhill; and an infant sister, Lily Thornhill. "Affectionately known as "Granny" and "Mama," she is survived by her son, Bill (Alma) Nunn of West Mansfield; two daughters, Myra (Dan) Johnson of Rushsylvania, and Cheryl (Butch) Blankenship of Bellefontaine; eight grandchildren, Bobby (Stacey) Johnson, Lisa (Dennis) Nawman, Danny (Krystal) Johnson, David (Stacie) Nunn, Mindy Nunn, Brian (Melissa) Blankenship, Joey (Angel) Blankenship and Julie (Billy) Allison; 17 great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law; and many nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Mannasmith-Schnurrenberger Funeral Home, West Mansfield, where Jim Taylor will officiate services on Friday at 11 a.m. Burial will take place Saturday at 2 p.m. at Palm Memorial Gardens in Matheny, W. "Cheryl Ann Nunn Blankenship, 64, of Beckley, WV, gained her Heavenly wings on Monday, January 30, 2023 at Bowers Hospice House, Beckley, WV following her battle with cancer. She was born on October 6, 1958 in Mullens, WV a daughter of the late Teddy Warren and Deliah Thornhill Nunn. Cheryl attended and was a member of the Otsego Church of Christ. She graduated from Pineville High School in 1976 and attended the Wyoming County Career and Technical Center where she graduated with her LPN nursing degree. Some years later she continued on to become an RN. She loved serving others as a nurse, cooking, and her little farm."In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by a niece Amy Nunn, mother-in-law Ina Blankenship and step mother-in-law Betty Blankenship.
"Those left to cherish her memory include her husband William David “Butch” Blankenship which she married on December 20th 1975 and recently celebrated 47 years together. She is also survived by her children: Brian (Joanna) Blankenship of Kenton, OH, Michael “Joey” Blankenship of Newark, OH and Julie (John) Rostorfer of Rushsylvania, OH, bonus daughters Jennifer Anderson of Lester and Kathleen Roark of Odd, she was blessed with several grandchildren Brian (Hannah) Blankenship, Jr., Ethan Blankenship, Megan Blankenship, Malachi Blankenship, Caden Zirkle, Kylie Eaton, Evan Eaton, Michael Rostorfer, Keeli Rostorfer, Michael Blankenship, Jr. and Haylee Blankenship, her first great grandson is on his way, a brother, Bill (Alma) Nunn of West Mansfield, OH, a sister Myra (Danny) Johnson of Rushlyvania, OH, several nieces and nephews that were very special to her, and a host of other loving family and friends.
"Funeral service will be held at 1 pm on Friday, February 3rd in the Chapel of Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV with Minister Doug Thorn officiating. She will be laid to rest in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley, WV. Friends may gather with the family from 11 am until time of service on Friday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be family and friends. In lieu of flowers, friends and family can make memorial donations to Hospice of Southern West Virginia, P.O Box 1472 Beckley, WV 25802. The family is being served by the Stafford Family Funeral Home."
