"Stollie Parsons, a well known lady minister from Wyoming County, formerly of Raleigh County, received her promotion to the city of God on Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at the age of 96. She was born in 1915 to the late Hinton and Matilda Pettry of Raleigh County, WV. Mrs. Parsons began ministering at an early age. Her first revival was held at the age of 15 with the 76 converts. She was enrolled in a private Christian school, The Patty C. Stockdale Presbyterian School. There she taught the basics of education- how to walk, talk, and live. This helped Mrs. Parsons throughout her ministry, as she would guide others who would call or visit for counseling.

"She loved to read Christian books and she always began her day with prayer and reading the bible. She was the pastor of several churches, with much success in spreading the word of God. She evangelized throughout West Virginia and other states. She worked in the radio industry for 60 years. Although she was called out often for revivals and funerals, she always made sure that everything at home was in order before she left. No one ever left her home hungry.

"She has lived a long and fruitful life. She fought a good fight and kept her faith till the end. Her living was not in vain. She said she didn’t want any praise and glory. Our favorite scripture for her is Proverbs Chapter 31: Give her the fruit of her hands and let her own works praise her in the gates. Her lifelong dream came to pass when she was baptized in the River of Jordan. She said her greatest event is to come. When she hears Jesus say, “Well done!”

"Thanks to every church who let this lady minister grace your pulpit, when many souls were saved. God will reward you all. The last years of her life was spent living close by her daughter and caregiver, Joann Harless. She left a heritage of family and friends who would visit, call, and help her in any way. She has made it known that she wants the family to keep the fire burning on the home front, as the work of the Lord will continue down the family line. She is now absent from her body but she present with the Lord.

"We want to thank the Appalachian Home Health in Man, WV for the nurses who came often. Also, we appreciate her Home Health Nurse, Kay Aliff and her husband Randall Aliff- Sheriff of Wyoming County. We thank all the employees, nurses, and doctors at Heartland-Beckley, WV and Bower Hospice House-Beckley, WV.

"She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Parsons, daughter Betty Blankenship and her husband Harris Blankenship, a grandson Jonathan Blankenship, her son in law: Oral Harless, and brothers and sisters: Bradie Peters, Woodrow Pettry, Howard Pettry, Dolly Dilly, Tolley Bond, Denver Pettry, Leona Pettry, Jimmie Pettry, Dela Ray Pettry, and Mont Pettry.

"Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter Joann Harless of Cyclone, WV, son James Parsons and his wife, June of Macedonia, Ohio, and sister Bonnie Lowe of Swan Lake, Maryland. She was the proud grandparent to 12 grandchildren: Ruta Prichard and husband Earl of Bolt, WV, Danny Harless and wife Sandra of Bolt, WV, David Harless and Joyce of Cyclone, WV, Charlene Stapleton and Marcus of Beckley, WV, Charles Blankenship and wife Nikki of Beaver, WV, Jimmy Parsons and wife Maria of Royalton, Ohio, Junetta Dulugokecki and husband Rick of Mooresville North Carolina, Denise Carana and husband Mike of Ohio, Regina Wegnyn and husband Ed of Cleveland, Ohio, Carolyn Calvin and husband Junior of Ohio, Elizabeth Garcia of Harbor Landing, Georgia, and Timmy Harless and wife Kathy of Cyclone. She is the great-grandmother of 24 great grandchildren and a great-great grandmother of 16. She is an aunt of many nieces and nephews.

"A victory celebration of Stollie’s life will be held at 12:00 p.m. Sunday, July 31, 2011 at Campus Church Of God, Cyclone WV. The family will receive visitors on Saturday, July 30, from 4:00 – 9:00 p.m. at the church. Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Beckley, West Virginia. Rev. Roger Stewart, Rev. Darryl Stapleton and Rev. Michael Dent officiating.

"Pallbearers will be grandsons: David Harless, Danny Harless, Timmy Harless, Charles Blankenship, and Jimmie Parsons. Honorary pallbearers will be: Lowel H. Cook, Dr. Jeff Prichard, Sheriff Randall Aliff, Shadrach Stewart and Tommy Evans.

"In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Stollie’s memory to the Ministry to Israel, c/o Rev. Darrell Stapleton PO Box 151, Matheny, WV 24860 or Bowers Hospice House 454 Cranberry Drive, Beckley, WV 25801

"Everyone was special to her. She didn’t forget Tom Evans and family of Oceana who sent her flower every year; also the many others who help her in many ways. Wayne McMillion who was her helper for over 20 years, Lorraine Toler and Chester and Teresa Dean. The people who called often visited her in her time of illness: Pam Blankenship who is an employee at Heartland who she had known for many years and also bought her things she knew she liked. Kevin Green, from Heartland, whom she knew since he was a young boy and made his last visit the day before her passing and also all other employees who visited her at the hospice house. Another God sent lady minister, Loretta Taylor, who visited her several times ; and a host of other friends who called and visited her. God be with you all until we see her again.

"Online condolences may be sent to our guestbook at www.evans-funeralhome.com.

"Arrangements by Evans Funeral Home, Rt. 10 Cook Parkway in Oceana."
