"Born March 25, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Marshall Lansing Cook and Virginia Lee Browning Cook. "In addition to her parents, Lois is preceded in death by her husband Gary Grey Gallaher; brother Edmond Darell Cook, infant brother Jerry Gayle Cook and infant sister Judith Ann Cook; and brother-in-law James S. Gallaher. "Lois was an Educator for 33 years, having taught at Kopperston Grade School, Bradley Elementary, Daniels Elementary and in Raleigh, N.C. "Lois loved being in the classroom and believed all children could learn. She believed teaching was not just an occupation, but that good teachers had a true calling. She impacted many lives throughout her career. Most of all her world consisted of her daughter, grandson and granddaughter. Lois was a Christian and a member of the Memorial Baptist Church in Beckley. Lois attended Oceana High School; Concord College with a Bachelors of Education Degree; West Virginia University with a Masters of Education Degree and COGS- 90+ post graduate hours. "LORADO, W.Va. — David Clayton “Dave” Browning Sr., 64, of Lorado, departed this life Thursday, February 26, 2009, from his home after a sudden illness.

"Born November 4, 1944, at Bruno, he was a son of the late Van Dailey and Beulah Toler Browning. Also preceding him in death was one son, David “Rock” Browning Jr., and several brothers.

"Dave was a mine foreman who retired from Raccoon Mining Company at Three Mile Curve. Through out his career he had worked at various other Logan County Mines. Dave was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. When he was able, he loved to ride through the mountains and ginseng. Devoted to his family, Dave was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather.

"Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Tammy Arthur Browning; one daughter, Teresa Robin (Josh) Maynard of Lorado; two step-daughters, Ashley (Billy) Ellis of Elk Creek and Amanda (Brandon) Lester of Trace Fork; one step-son, Charles (Felisha) Simpkins of Accoville; two sisters, Virginia Cook of Huff Creek and Mary Hatfield of Robinette; two brothers, Van Douglas (Joyce) Browning of Bruno and Cecil (Emma Bell) Browning of Holly Ridge, N.C.; two grandchildren, Elizabeth Robin Adkins and Megan Nichole Adkins, both of North Carolina; six step-grandchildren, Destiny Shay Ellis and Billy Jack “Bubby” Ellis Jr., both of Elk Creek, Alexis Paige Lester, Brooklyn Jade Lester and Taylor Alyssa Lester, all of Trace Fork, and Alana Faith Simpkins of Accoville; many nieces and nephews along with a host of other relatives and friends.
