"PRINCETON — Rene Halsey Green, 83, of Henry Street, Princeton, went to be with her Lord, Thursday evening, January 8, 2009, with her daughters by her side.One of twelve children, she was born May 9, 1925, near Itmann, the daughter of the late General Lee Halsey and Alice Eugenia Myers Halsey.In her early childhood, Rene was educated in a one room school in Wyoming County; she was a graduate of Dobynes Bennette High School in Kingsport, Tenn. Upon returning to Wyoming County, she was a switchboard operator for the telephone company in Mullens. She later taught school for three years. For more than 47 years, she served as an Avon Representative in the Mullens area. Rene was a devoted wife, loving and caring mother and a doting grandmother. She was a member of the First Church of God on Mahood Avenue in Princeton.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin C. Green; along with siblings, Thelma Teets, Ray, Wilton, Rupert and Winton Halsey.Those left to cherish her memory: Three daughters, Susan Green and husband Larry Gross of Rock, Linda Uhl of Princeton, Patricia Staggers and husband Allen of Fairmont; three grandchildren, Zachary Uhl, Ashley Renee Staggers and Kelsey Elizabeth Staggers; three sisters, Edith Brooks of Pineville, June Baldwin of Nimitz, Phyllis Hightower of Roanoke, Va.; two brothers, Jimmy Halsey and wife Betty of Brushfork, Drewie Halsey of Pineville; a host of nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Sunday, January 11, 2009 from the Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Pastor Paul Stokes officiating.Graveside services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, at the Roselawn Memorial Gardens on the Courthouse Road in Princeton..."
