"Born January 15, 1927, in Alabama, she was the daughter of the late Homer and Claira Simmons McAlpine.

"Mrs. Stewart was a homemaker and a member of Matheny Church of God.

"In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Stewart; two sons, Hylton Stewart and Rodney Stewart; a brother, Paul McAlpine; and a sister, Josephine Stewart.

"Those left to cherish her memory are a son, John Stewart and wife Dorece of Statesville, N.C.; a daughter, Sue Cook of Nitro; three brothers, Joseph McAlpine of Beaver, Chester McAlpine of Virginia and Clarence Slatton of Talcott; two sisters, Magdalene Stewart of Matheny and Geraldine Maag of Winfield; ten grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

"A celebration of Mrs. Stewart’s life will be 2 p.m. today, Friday, October 22, 2020, at Matheny Church of God with Rev. Tommy Perry officiating. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny...."

Willard John Stewart

"STATESVILLE, N.C. — Willard John Stewart, 64, of Statesville, passed away Wednesday, August 3, 2011, at the Gordon Hospice House.

"Mr. Stewart was born June 10, 1947, in Matheny, W.Va., and was the son of the late Alfred Kelly Stewart and WillaDene McAlpine Stewart. He attended Matheny schools and Oceana High School in Matheny, W.Va., and served in the U.S. Army Special Forces from 1964-1968. He was a long-distance truck driver for Cargo Transportation and disability retired in 2005. He was first married to the late Sherry Blouse Stewart and on Oct. 13, 2004, was married to Margaret Dorece McCoy Stewart, who survives of the home.

"In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Eugene Stewart (Suzanne) of Statesville, Burt Stewart (Nicole) of Buffalo, N.Y., Hollis Stewart of Northtonwanda, N.Y.; two granddaughters, Page and Samantha Stewart, two stepdaughters, Shannon Eudy, Tamara Mills, and two stepgrandchildren, Dylan Vargas and Alicia Lira.

"He was preceded in death by a half brother, Hylton Stewart, and a brother, Rodney Stewart.

"Memorial services will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, August 6, 2011, in the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at a later date in Northtonwanda, N.Y. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 1 to 2 p.m. at Nicholson Funeral Home...."
