"NEW RICHMOND — Sytha Kiser, 84, of New Richmond, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2010, in Bowers Hospice House, Beckley. "Born Nov. 28, 1925, at Logan, she was the daughter of the late Tom and Gustie Dales Stacy. "Mrs. Kiser was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a member of the New Richmond Chapel. She was an active participant at the Wyoming County Council on Aging at Itmann where she brought treats and snacks for everyone each day. Her door was always open to the neighborhood youth, always keeping a supply of treats for them. Mrs. Kiser loved to read her Bible and watch television from her recliner. "In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Homer Kiser, and several brothers and sisters. "Those left to cherish her memory include three sons, Eddie Kiser of Detroit, Mich., Walt Kiser of Beaver and Chris Kiser of New Richmond; three daughters, Kaye Loucks of Fredericksburg, Va., Sandy Brown of Oceana and Sue Kiser of Wilton, Calif.; a sister, Lexie Webb of Harmon, Va.; four grandchildren, Michael Kiser of Detroit, Mich., Melanie Loucks of Richmond, Va., James Kiser of Bristol, Va., and Chrissy Kiser of New Richmond; and a great-granddaughter, Haley Kiser of Bristol, Va. "A celebration of Sytha’s life will be 1 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 29, 2010, at Calfee Funeral Service Chapel, Pineville, with the Rev. Larry England and the Rev. Robert Bannister officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley..."

"GASTON, S.C. - Ronald Ross Brooks, 61, formerly of Oak Hill, passed away Monday, May 22, 2006, at Lexington Medical Center, West Columbia, S.C., after a courageous battle with cancer. Ronald lived most of his life in Wyoming County in the Glen Rogers, Glen Fork and Sabine area. "Born Sept. 18, 1944, at Glen Fork, he was the son of the late James and Hettie Cozort Brooks. "Ronald was a disabled coal miner, having last worked at Kopperston No. 2 Mines. He became a child of God in the early '70s, was of the Baptist faith and he preached in several different churches in Wyoming County. "In addition to his parents, his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bud and Stella Carter; two sisters, May Hall and Henrietta Bailey; a brother, Jennings Brooks; and five nephews, Jimmy Hash, Shawn Bailey, Timmy Brooks, Rodney Brooks and Lonnie Hash, preceded him in death. "Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 37 years, Dorothy Carter Brooks; two sons, Randall Brooks of Gaston and Phillip Brooks and his wife, Amy, of Gaston; two brothers, Frank Brooks and his wife, Viola, of Sabine and General Brooks and his wife, Merlynn, of Sabine; three sisters, Faye Hash of Glen Fork, Rosetta Cozort and her husband, Harmon, of Red Sulphur Springs and Loretta Bailey and her husband, Hollie, of Sabine; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. "Service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Evans Memorial Chapel, Oceana, with the Rev. Delmas Wolfe and the Rev. Benny Cozort officiating. Burial will follow in Glen Fork Community Cemetery..."
