"PRINCETON — Herbert Goodman, 69, of Princeton, W.Va., formerly of the Isaban area of McDowell County, died Monday, December 29, 2008 in the Veteran's Medical Center in Salem, Va.Herbert was born July 28, 1939 in War Eagle, W.Va., a son of the late Rufus H. and Lilly Goodman. He was a coal miner and a United States Army Veteran of the Vietnam War. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Violet May and Imogene Blankenship, and three brothers, Chester Coleman, and Donald and Ted Goodman.Survivors include his wife, Shirley Blevins Goodman of Princeton; one daughter, Tammy Fulknier and husband Danny of Princeton; two sons, Charles Goodman of Isaban, and Billy J. Blevins of Princeton; one sister, Rosie Gibson of Man; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.Funeral services will be conducted Friday, January 2, 2009 at 11 o'clock with Steve May officiating at the chapel of Fanning Funeral Home in Iaeger, W.Va. Burial will follow in the Four Pole Cemetery at Mohawk where military graveside rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post 175 and VFW Post 1144. Russell "Lowell" Walls, 89, of Christian, set sail for his new home on Friday, March 22, 2019, leaving from Trinity Healthcare Services of Logan."Born on January 19, 1930, at Leatherwood, he was the son of the late Leander "Lee" Milton Walls (1905-1980) and Orpha Belle Browning-Walls (1905-1999). In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife, Corda Lea Browning-Walls (1928-1998); three children, Ronald Walls (1947-1950), Marietta "Ellen" Walls (1950-1951), and Sonny David Walls (1949-1949); five brothers, Arley Walls (1937-2018), James “Jimmy” Archie Walls (1939-2013), Danny Dale Walls (1945-2011), Cecil Ardell Walls (Deceased), and Teddy Lewdell Walls (1935-1936); two sisters, Betty Lea Walls-Woolum (1932-2004) and Opal Walls-Lester (1928-1972); one half-sister, Hazel Morgan (Deceased); and one daughter-in-law, Dinah Lea Godfrey-Walls (1956-2017).
"Lowell, as he was affectionately known, was a true man of God. In 1947, he became a Christian and was called into the ministry in 1948. A devout Christian, he devoted over 71 years of his life to serving the Lord and winning souls to Jesus Christ. In the Spring of 1972, along with Rev. Clarence Fortner, Lowell founded the Christian Freewill Baptist Church. Until his death, he was acknowledged as the longest-standing ordained minister in the State of West Virginia. His greatest joy was witnessing to others about the Lord and seeing souls saved. In his spare time, he also enjoyed hunting and fishing whenever he was able. Lowell will long be remembered for his dedication and willingness to bring the love of Christ to everyone he met through his words, actions, and his witness. With every life he impacted, he never failed to shine his light for the Lord.
