"William “Pete” Thomas, 90, of Fanrock, WV departed this life on Tuesday August 10,
2010 at the Beckley Veterans Administration Regional Medical Center to live eternally with
his Savior. He was born May 5, 1920 in Davy, WV a son of the late William Curtis and
Jessie Pearl Rose Thomas. Pete was a perfect husband, father, grandfather, brother and
friend. He was a US Army WW II veteran having served 42 months overseas. He retired
from Cabot Corporation after 38 years of employment. William loved to work, take care of
his family, garden and go to church, he was a member of the Briar Creek Tabernacle for
39 years. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by seven brothers George,
Alvin, Ray, Roy, Jim, Jake and Garland Thomas; four sisters Nell Haymaker, Helen Lusk,
Anna Belle Thomas and Beulah Thomas. Survivors include his loving wife of 60 years
Frances Louise Johnston Thomas; a sister Emma Jean Rose of Brier Creek, WV; four
children Diana Newcomb and husband Gary of Lynco, WV, Richard Thomas of Brier
Creek, WV, Anita Dillon and husband Richard of Brier Creek, WV, and Russell Thomas
and wife Rhonda of Galax, VA; five grandchildren Brittany Lawson and husband Daniel,
Rebecca Brumfield and husband Derek, Savannah Thomas, Kurtis Thomas, Bethany
Dillon and Gary Wayne Newcomb; two great grandchildren Taylor and Matthew
Newcomb; and a host of other loving family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 2:
00 PM on Saturday August 14, 2010 at the Briar Creek Tabernacle with Rev. Ralph
Whitten officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Rose Cemetery, Brier Creek, WV..."

"Mrs. Rose was a member of Brier Creek Tabernacle where she taught Sunday school. She was a member of the Ladies’ Aid Society and retired from the Wyoming County School system where she was a cook for many years at Baileysville Grade School. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, going to church and being with her family and friends. "In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ira Willis Rose and 12 brothers and sisters. "Survivors include a son, Steve Rose and his wife, Loretta, of Brenton; a daughter, Sheila Pinter and her husband, Jack, of Titusville, Fla.; four grandchildren.
