Hurley was an assistant pastor at Bellemead Baptist Church, Sabine, and was also an assistant pastor at Glen Rogers Community Church. He was a member of Bellemead Baptist Church. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. "In addition to his parents, Rev. Hurley was preceded in death by a son, Staff Sgt. Hassel Hurley; and also six brothers and a sister. "Rev.
