"Chester Eli Dingus Jr., 63, of Pineville, passed away Saturday, Dec. 12, 2009, in Beckley Appalachian Regional Hospital.
"Born Oct. 31, 1946, in Wyoming County, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Chester E. Dingus Sr. and Minnie Green Dingus. He is survived by sisters Linda Muncy, Pineville, WV, and Ann Gifford, Sanford, FL, brother Stanley Dingus, Lakehurst, NJ, son Chester E. Dingus, III, Indianapolis, Indiana, and grandchildren Nicholas Christian and Emily Katelynn.
"Mr. Dingus led a life of service. A veteran of two tours in the Vietnam War, he returned to the United States in 1969 and served as a firefighter/engineer with the Lakeland (Florida) Fire Department. He faithfully served for 28 years up until his retirement in 1997. During retirement, Mr. Dingus enjoyed woodworking and being a true friend and neighbor to those who knew him.
