"RICHLANDS, Va. — Mrs. Elizabeth Juanita Umbarger, age 86, of Richlands, Va., passed away Monday, March 30, 2009 at Lake East Hospital in Painesville, Ohio. She was born December 20, 1922 in Iaeger, W.Va. and was the daughter of the late Franklin D. and Euna Farley Bishop. She was a graduate of Concord College in Athens, W.Va. and was a former teacher with the McDowell County School System. She was a member of the United Methodist Church having taught Sunday School for more than 40 years in Iaeger, Grundy, and Richlands. At the time of her life, she was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Richlands, Va. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Geroge E. Umbarger; one brother, Marion Bishop; and one sister, Wilma Bishop Pascone. Survivors are: Two daughters, Victoria Shamblin and husband, Richard of Painesville, Ohio, Crystal Riddick and husband, Michael of Richmond, Va.; four sisters, Dolly Hume of Roanoke, Va., Emma Lou Butler and husband, Sam of Iaeger, W.Va., Sue Howell and husband, Robert of Vinton, Va., Dorothy Horn and husband, Huey of Pineville, W.Va.; three brothers, Vestal "Beck" Bishop of Gilbert, W.Va., Franklin Bishop, Jr. and wife, Barbara of Ikes, W.Va., William Bishop and wife, Dee of Beckley, W.Va.; grandchildren, Andrea Lester of Painesville, Ohio, Jennifer Compton and husband, BJ of Cedar Bluff, Va., Sherryl Gross of Baptist Valley, Va., and Michael Riddick of Bear, Del.; great-grandchildren, Zachary Lester, Brandon Lester and wife, Tiffany, Hope Compton, Jeff Compton, Faith Compton, Neveah Riddick; great-great-granddaughter, Kahlan Racheel Lester; and numerous nieces and nephews.
