"WELCH, Virginia "Jenny" Ayers Furo, 82, of Welch, died Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2006 at Welch Community Hospital. "Born Nov. 1, 1923 in Iaeger, she was the daughter of the late William Albert Ayers and Opal ?Dolly? Rose. She worked at the McDowell County Courthouse where she served as a deputy sheriff until her retirement. "In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Furo; her stepfather, Grat Rose; and her sisters, June Ayers and Nannie Ruth Battlo. She is survived by her brother, Roger Rose and wife Pam of Bluefield, Va.; nieces, Toni Albert and husband Bill of Bluefield, Theresa Bales and husband Kenneth of Welch, Jennifer Battlo of Dunbar, Gemma Greenbaum and husband James of Richmond, Va., and Vannessa Roach and husband John of San Antonio, Texas; a nephew, Kevin Rose; great nephew, David Albert; and great nieces, Christie Albert, Nikki Bales Rohrig and Deana Bales. She also leaves behind her two special care givers, Debbie Caskey and Mary Drake. "A prayer service will be conducted Friday at 11 a.m. in the Douglas Mortuary Chapel, Welch, with Father Tan Nugyen of St. Peter Catholic Church officiating.
