"Richard Butcher Sr. 85, of Brenton, passed away Monday, Jan. 8, 2007, in Beckley VAMC following a long illness.
"Born May 13, 1921, in Williamsport, Ky., he was the son of the late Jim and Batha Ward Butcher.
"Mr. Butcher was a member of Brenton Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, where he received the Purple Heart. Mr. Butcher was a retired coal miner from Island creek Coal Company.
"In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Tyler Butcher; three brothers, Virgil, Mark and Edgar Butcher; and one sister, Jemima Butcher.

"Larry David Butcher, 68, of Brenton, WV passed away on April 1, 2018 at his home. He was born on August
14, 1949 in Brenton, WV a son of the late Richard and Ada Fay Cook Butcher, Sr. Larry was a member of the
Clear Fork Independent Church of God and the Brenton Volunteer Fire Department. In addition to his
parents he is preceded in death by a grandson Tyler Scott Butcher. Survivors include his loving wife of 51
years Patsy Gail Adams Butcher; two sons Gregory Scott (Cynthia) Butcher of Camden, SC and Robert Lee
(Sharon Rose) Butcher of Beckley; a brother Richard (Brenda Kidd) Butcher, Jr. of Brenton; three
grandchildren Andrew Austin (Ashleigh) Butcher, Amanda Rose Butcher and Emily Marie Butcher; and a
host of other loving family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 1PM on Wednesday April 4th in the
Chapel of Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV with Pastor Hannibal Blankenship, Jr. officiating. He
will be laid to rest in Butcher-Cook Cemetery, Brenton, WV. Friends may gather with the family from Noon
until time of services on Wednesday April 4th at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
