"MULLENS — “Safe in the Arms of God.” Norma Louise Lafferty England, 90, of Mullens, entered "into eternal rest on Tuesday, October 16, 2012, at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley."Norma was known to most as “Mom” England and spent most of her life nurturing her children and countless others. Her entire life was centered around her Faith in God and her Family.
"Born on February 23rd, 1922, a daughter of the late Goodall Alan Lafferty and Elizabeth Rose Lafferty. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Matthew Abner England, a son, Cecil Dale England; grandson, Daryl Keith England, three brothers, Ralph Lafferty, Nathaniel “Gus” Lafferty, Darrell Lafferty; and one sister, Arlie Bishop.
"Those left to cherish her memory are her children: Bob (Vivian) England; Drema (Robert) Shireman; Larry (Linda) England; Linda Stamper, Karen Reed, Zelda (Frank) Peters; Susan (David) Lord; Beverly (Tim) Grose; and Jeff (Teresa) England; stepdaughther, Larnie Mae (Jake) Reyes and an adopted son, Lee (Winnie) Radford. Her siblings: Howard Lafferty, David Lafferty, Nell Jones, Jane Lusk, Wanna Clay and Barbara Milam; 23 grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren.; two very special friends, Jess and Carrie Tolliver and her wonderful caregiver, Holly Johnson.
"The family will receive visitors at Tankersley Funeral Home, Mullens, on Friday, October 19th from 5 to 9 p.m. A celebration of Norma’s life will be held on Saturday, October 20, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Pierpoint Freewill Baptist Church, Pierpoint, with Rev. Daniel Legg, Pastor Bob England and Pastor Larry England officiating. Interment will follow at the family cemetery on York Mountain..."
