"MULLENS - Daryl Clifton Lafferty, 80, of Parsons Drive, died Wednesday, March 14, 2001, at his home following a long illness. "Born Sept. 23, 1920, at Mullens, he was the son of the late Goodall Allen and Nancy Elizabeth Rose Lafferty. Mr. Lafferty was a World War II U.S. Army veteran. He had worked a short time for Black Eagle Coal as a boss, and had moved to Pineville, where he owned and operated a gas station, and later worked as a barber in Tazewell, Va. "He was preceded in death by a son, Daryl Lafferty Jr.; and two brothers, Gus Lafferty and Ralph Lafferty; and his maternal grandparents, Nathan and Eliza Rose. "Survivors include his wife, Betty McComas Lafferty of Mullens; a daughter, Brenda Lafferty, address unknown; a son, Leonard Lafferty, address unknown; six sisters, Norma England of Mullens, Arlie Bishop and her husband, Ho-mer, of Mullens, Nell Jones and her husband, Dallas, of Mullens, Jane Lusk of Co-rinne, Wanna Clay and her husband, Jimmy, of Corinne, and Barbara Milam and her husband, Andy, of Mullens; two brothers, Howard Lafferty and his wife, Pat, of Sophia, and David Lafferty of Pennsylvania. Service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Tankersley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Larry Lafferty officiating. Burial will follow in the York Ce-metery, York Mountain..."
