"Hash, Polk B., 74, Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in the Russell Baptist Church at Glen Fork. Burial will be in the Glen Fork Cemetery. He died in a Mullens hospital Friday evening after a long illness. He had been a retired coal miner since 1947 and was formerly employed with the Red Yard Coal Co., at Oceana. He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America, District 17, and Local Union 7604, and was a veteran of World War I. Survivors include his wife, Alta Walker Hash; four sons, Archie and Mackie, both of Chicago, Ill.; Jack and Lasie [Lacy], both of Glen Fork; a daughter, Mrs. John W. Sturgill Jr., Hatcher; one brother, Bryan Hash, Mullens; six sisters, Mrs. Virginia Mance [Nance], Mrs. Hazel Woody, Mrs. Eva Kiger, and Mrs. Mary Faircloth, all of Winston-Salem, N.C.; Mrs. Ruth Halsey, Sophia, and Mrs. Bessie Crouse, Independence, Va.; 19 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
