ENGLISH - Alice Vivian Perdue, 93, of English, died Sunday, June 15, 2003 at Princeton Community Hospital.
Born May 21, 1910, in North Tazewell, Va., she was the daughter of the late Hasque Yates and Melissa Parks Yates. She was a homemaker, and raised seven children alone.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Sidney Perdue; two sons, Sid Junior Perdue and Robert Evert Perdue; two daughters, Dovie Marie Perdue and Joann Perdue Boyd; three brothers, Charlie Yates; two sisters, Mary Lockhart and Bennie Kennedy; and five grandchildren, Keith Allen Perdue, Joel William Deel, Lynn Ann Collins, Sylvia Perdue and Michael Joseph Mosser.
She is survived by four sons, Bill Perdue of English, Glenwood Perdue of Bartley, Mr. and Mrs. Perry (Bobbie) Perdue of Bartley, and Mr. and Mrs. James (LoJean) Perdue Glade Springs; two daughters, Mr. and Mrs. Dave (Elizabeth) Kennedy of Bartley, and Mr. and Mrs. (Florence) Blankenship of Jupitor, Fla.; and 35 grandchildren, 65 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Yukon Pentecostal Church, Yukon. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Princeton.
Mrs. Perdue will be taken to her home in English Thursday where friends may call after 6 p.m. On Friday she will be taken to the church where friends may call after 6 p.m.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
The Douglas Funeral Home of War is in charge of arrangements."

"Born April 10, 1934 in English he was the son of the late Sidney Perdue and Alice Yates Perdue. He was a retired miner having worked at Island Creek Coal Co. VP #1 mine in Oakwood, VA, and was a member of the UMWA, Local # 1509. He was a member of the Roderfield Community House of Prayer in Roderfield.
"In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Corrine Toler Perdue; two brothers, Robert (Bob) Perdue and William (Bill) Perdue; and a sister Joann Boyd.
"Those left to cherish his memory are four sons, Harry Perdue of Canebrake, Melvin and Annette Perdue of Yukon, Alvin and Rose Perdue and Robert (Bobby) Perdue all of Pulaski, VA; two daughters, Wanda Shrader, and Darlene and Bill Martin of Pulaski; two brothers, Perry Perdue of Caretta and James Perdue of Glade Springs, VA; two sisters, Elizabeth Kennedy of Bartley and Florence Blankenship of Jupiter, FL; his companion of 16 years, Mae Hagerman of Bartley and her 7 children who loved him dearly; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
"Funeral service will be conducted Friday, July 3 at 11 a.m. in the Yukon #2 Pentecostal HolinessChurch with Pastor Johnny Akers and Rev. Lacy Griffith officiating. Burial will follow in WoodlawnMemorial Park, Bluewell.,,,"
