" Donald Eugene Bowen, 62, of Route 161, Box 10, Pageton, passed away Saturday, April 22, 2006 at Raleigh General Hospital, Beckley."Born June 22, 1943 at Goodwill, he was the son of the late Toy Washington and Nora Ann Perry Bowen. Mr. Bowen was a U.S. Navy veteran and a member of the VFW in Bluewell, he attended Gary High School and Bluefield State College, he was an avid hunter and formally worked at Yager Ford in Welch and Leslie Coal Company as a electrician, and he was a resident of Elkhorn Mountain most of his life. "In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Bobby Lee Bowen, William Bowen, ?Rook? Bowen and Toy Bowen Jr. and four sisters, Mary Davis Bowen, Hestes Helmandollar, Hazel Harris and Audrey Gerhardt. "Survivors include his wife, Ruth Farmer Bowen of Pageton; four sons, Donald E. Bowen Jr. and wife Tena of Welch, Darrin Bowen and wife Margaret of Welch, Richard Bowen of Welch, and Daniel J. Farmer and wife Kim of Vale, N.C.; one brother, Kenneth Bowen of Bluewell; one sister, Betty Wilson of Glenwood; and six grandchildren"Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at 11 a.m. at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell with the Rev. "Dorothy M. Bowen, 82, of Roanoke, Va., formerly of Charleston and Welch, W.Va., passed away Wednesday, March 1, 2006. She was preceded in death by her husband, Toy W. Bowen Jr.; parents, David and Mary Rose McWatters; and her brother, Randolph McWatters.
"She was a retired nurse with the state of West Virginia and a longtime member of Oakland Baptist Church in Roanoke. Mrs. Bowen was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Bramwell, W.Va., and had been active in Girl Scouts.
"Surviving are her son, Toy W. Bowen III; grandsons, Lonnie and Christopher Bowen; great-granddaughter, Jennifer Bowen; sister, Elizabeth Seale of Apopka, Fla.; brother, David McWatters Jr. of Charleston, W.Va.; several nieces and nephews; a close friend, Nancy Akers; and special cousin, Frances Stump.
"Service will be at Oakey's South Chapel 10 a.m. Saturday, March 4. The Rev. Kelly Dampeer will officiate. Interment will be in Roselawn Memorial Park, Princeton, W.Va. at 2 p.m. on Saturday..."
