Bailey, Bob L. - Princeton Bob L. Bailey, 66, of Princeton, died Monday, Oct. 23, 2006 at Annie Penn Hospital in Reidsville, N.C.
Born Aug. 28, 1940 in Princeton, he was the son of the late Orville M. Bailey and Frances “Duvall” Blankenship Bailey.
Mr. Bailey retired as president and partner of Sterling Grocery in Princeton after 38 years of service. He was a charter member of Landmark Church of God in Princeton where the church honored him by dedicating the gymnasium in his name. He was an active participant of the “10 Cent Millionaires.” He spent most of his life in Spanishburg where he was an active participant in sports and coached little league basketball and church softball. He was an active member of the Spanishburg Ruritan Club. His hobbies included wood work, hunting, fishing and all sports, especially golf and bowling.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant sister, Connie.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Shirley Hodge Bailey; three sons, Bruce Bailey and his wife Betsy of Pawleys Island, S.C. and their children, Beth Ann, Tyler and Rachel; Steve Bailey and his wife Celeste of Ruffin, N.C. and their children, Austin and Patrick; and Brandon Bailey and his wife Colleen of Greenville, S.C. and their daughter, Emma.
Funeral services will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. today, Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2006 at the Landmark Church of God, located just off Willowbrook Road on Sackett Road in Princeton, with Pastor Scott Hodge, Pastor Gary Swogger and the Rev. Bill Ellis officiating. Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 26, 2006 at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton. "CYCLONE-Ernest Leamon Brown, departed this life Tuesday, January 16, 2007, at Raleigh General Hospital at the age of 64 years, nine months and 18 days following a long illness.
"Born March 29, 1942, at Cyclone he was the son of the late Mathers and Martha Bailey Brown.
"Ernest was a member of Toler Baptist Church having joined July 25, 1999. He loved the Lord, and his family and enjoyed reading his Bible. Ernest had a humble and kind spirit and was always joking and laughing.
"In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers, Lawrence Brown, Lanta Brown and Ronnie Brown; two sisters, Gaye Workman and Irene Brown; a half brother, Lonnie Brown and a nephew, Arthur "Dale" Brown.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 25 years, Glenna Brown of Cyclone; a son, Gregory Brown and his wife, Tammy of Pearisbury, VA.; two grandsons, Jarod and Austin Brown of Pearisbury, VA.; two sisters, Imogene Lusk and her husband, Rev.
