"BLUEFIELD - James William Bailey, 84, of Route 3, Bluefield, died Saturday, Aug. 25, 2001 in a Princeton hospital following a long illness.
"Born Feb. 3, 1917, in Sandlick, he was the son of the late J.W.P. Bailey and Nannie Hellmondollar Bailey.
"Mr. Bailey was a devoted and faithful member of the Montcalm Church of God. He worked for Consolidation Coal Company at McComas for 19 years. For 35 years, he worked at Bethlehem Steel Shipyard before he retired.
"He was honorably discharged from the United States Army after serving three years in France and Germany. He was a member of Company A 801st Tank Destroyer Battalion.
"In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers and four sisters.
"He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Margaret Scott Bailey of the home; one daughter, Mary Sue Borbas and fiance, Ronnie Gupton of Louisburg, N.C.; one son, Tim Bailey of Baltimore, Md.; two granddaughters, Lindsey Borbas and Sara Borbas both of North Carolina; three grandsons, Timmy Bailey, Scott Bailey and Shane Bailey all of Baltimore; two sisters, Trana Purdy of McComas and Lucille Turner of Sandlick; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
"Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Rowland H. Bailey Funeral Chapel of the Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton with the Revs. Rayburn Haddock and Omar Burns officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Princeton..."
