"Richard Edward Caskey Sr., 69, of McDowell, died Friday, October 16, 1998 at Princeton Community Hospital after a long illness. He was affiliated with the Church of God faith, a member of the American Legion Post No. 8 of Welch, and disabled miner. He was formerly of the Litwar/ Ieager area, having lived at Big Four for twenty five years, and resided at McDowell for the past three years."Born November 3, 1928 at Farmersville, PA, he was the son of the late James "Jim" Shelby Caskey (1892-1956) and Lenora Roberts-Caskey-Murray (1909-1997). Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Tommy Caskey (Deceased) and John "Johnny" Caskey (1950-1951); and one sister, Ruby "Irene" Caskey-Horsell (1927–1966).
"Survivors include his wife, Judy Mae Vanover-Caskey (1929-Deceased) whom he married on November 8, 1946 in Iaeger, McDowell County, WV (per WV Marriage License Register, McDowell County, WV, 1946, Page 38, Application Date: November 8, 1946); six sons, Richard “Dickie” Edward Caskey Jr. (Deceased) & wife Annette Caskey of Big Four, Steve Caskey & wife Robin Caskey of Bluefield, Harry Caskey & wife Debra Caskey of Premier, Steven Caskey of Northfork, Edward Moore of Northfork and David Caskey of Bluewell; four daughters, Alene Caskey-Moore of Northfork, Darlene Caskey-Moore of Northfork, Mary Ann Caskey-Drake of Northfork and Susan Lynn Caskey of Northfork; one brother, Tommy L. The body will be taken to the home of his son, Harry Caskey, Premier, Monday evening, Oct 19, where friends may call after 6:00.
