"Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Blevins Vanover, loving mother and grandmother, age 91 of Mt. Pleasant passed away Thursday, January 9, 2014 at Carebridge Assisted Living, Mt. Pleasant."Funeral service will be 1:00pm Saturday, January 11, 2014 at Gordon Funeral Home of Mt. Pleasant; the family will receive friends from 12-1pm prior to the funeral service. Burial will follow at Cabarrus Memorial Gardens.
"Mrs. Vanover was born August 17, 1922 in Iaeger, WV, daughter of the late Kelly Blevins and Margaret Bryant Blevins. She was preceded in death by her husband Clarence Vanover and a daughter June Vanover Tye.
"She is survived by a daughter Tammy Vanover of Mocksville, sons, Buddy Vanover and wife Connie of Concord and Jimmie Vanover and wife Kay of Rockwell, two brothers, Matthew Blevins of Beckley, WV and Eltrue Blevins of Welch, WV, grandchildren, John and Donnie Tye, David and James Vanover, Donna McCrea and Josh Owens, seven great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

"Ruby was born February 2, 1923, in Iaeger, WV, a daughter of the late Harm and Lovis Kennedy Vanover. She was a homemaker, loved cooking, and attended the Christ Cathedral Church. Ruby was the last surviving member of her original family.
"In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Oscar Meadows; an infant son, Dallas Meadows; six sisters, Gladys Meadows, Chloe Meadows, Dolly Lyons, Maggie Steele, Judy Caskey and Norma Jean Roberts; and three brothers, Hugh, James, and Clarence Vanover.
"Survivors include two sons, Noah Meadows and wife Sharon of Bradshaw, WV, and Richard Meadows and wife Pam of Princeton, WV; four daughters, Okie Matney of Welch, WV, Irene Roberts and husband Teddy of Long Bottom near Iaeger, WV, Maggie Roberts and husband Cecil of Kimball, WV; and Linda Roberts and husband Dean of Welch, WV; 27 grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren.
