"KIMBALL - Myrtle Belcher "Honey" Roberts, 89, of Kimball (Norwood Addition), went to be with the
Lord Thursday evening, Sept. 15, 2005 at McDowell Continuous Care Center, Gary. "Born Nov. 2, 1915 in Big Four, she was the daughter of the late Floyd Belcher Sr. and Annie
Scarberry Belcher. She was an active member of the Houston United Methodist Church, Kimball
where she held several offices, she was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Kimball and
Bramwell. She was a Mother Adviser of the Northfork Assembly of Rainbows. She was a Girl Scout
leader in Kimball for several years, and was a member of the Black Diamond Girl Scout Council,
and a member of the McDowell Womans Club. She was a Red Cross First Aid Instructor during
World War II. She was a member of the Gideon Auxiliary. She was a secretary at Welch Elementary
School for 20 years and a former clerk at the Beryl Shop in Welch for several years. She was a
resident of Kimball most of her life. "She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
"Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, James "Jimmy"
Roberts on Feb. 14, 2001; one son, Donald H. Roberts; one great grandson, Jacob Christian
Vandevander; four brothers, Howard Belcher, Warren Belcher, Floyd Belcher Jr., and Herman
Belcher; four sisters, Ethel Suiter, Jessie McArdle, Hazel Miles, and her twin sister, Marie Stafford.
"Survivors include: One daughter, Elizabeth "Libby" Vandevander and husband Gene of Kimball;
one son, James Edward "Jim" Roberts and wife Virginia of Martinsville, Va.; a daughter-in-law,
