"A hunting trop into the mountains near Paynesville with his dog as his sole companion ended
tragically Wednesday for Columbus Lester, 19-yr-old Paynesville youth.
"Young Lester's lifeless body was found Wednesday afternoon about 100 feet from his single barrell shot gun which apparently went off accidentelly. From imprints found on the snow it appeared as though the youth crawled on his hands and knees to the spot where he was found.
"It is believed that the gun fell out of the boy's hand, the trigger striking a log which caused the
gun to go off. Shotgun wounds were found in the stomach.
"Lester had left his home to go hunting about 8 o'clock Wednesday morning. Apparently he had
been dead for more than an hour when found by a passerby.
"Nestled close to the boy's body was his faithful dog which would not allow anyone to come near
his master until the arriaval of the youth's father.
"No autopsy was performed on the body since it was apparent that the youth met death
accidentally.
"Young Lester had graduated from Iaeger high school last spring. Since completing his high school education he had been working on his father's farm.
"Surviving are his parents Mr. and Mrs. Paris Lester, and several brothers and sisters.
"Funeral Services were held at home Fri. afternoon. Burial was made in the Paynesville Cemetery. The Fanning Funeral Home at Iaeger had charge of funeral arrangements."

His parents, siblings, and their families called him Levi, but his children, wife, and friends in Welch, WV called him Lawrence. Alternate DOB: 30 Sep 1884."When Lawrence Levi Belcher was born his father, John Turner Belcher, was 40 and his mother, Cynthia, was 34.
Lawrence Belcher graduated from the University of Maryland Dental College in 1908."In 1909 he married Beanna Susan Burton and they had five children in 12 years. His first born child was named Lawrence Laben. "Laben" only lived from 1911 to 1916. His other children in birth order were: Majorie Burton Belcher, 1913 -2007, Harold "Hal" Burton Belcher 1915-1967, Margaret Annette "Anna" Belcher 1919-1982 and Betty Jane Belcher 1923-1930.

She attended college then moved to McDowell Co. where on 19 Dec 1909 she married Lawerence Levi Belcher, dentist and raised her family in Brown's Creek District, McDowell, WV."1910 she is 26 years old and living in Browns Creek,McDowell Co, West Virginia with her husband.
