"The coal camp of Rolfe was roused Monday evening by a triple slaying which occurred in the home of Ken Harrison shortly after 9 p.m. when Walter Cheeks broke into the Harrison home; killed Mrs. Harrison and her mother, Mrs. Mary Ann Sizemore, and was in turn slain by Mr. harrison.
"Cheeks, a son-in-law of Mrs. Sizemore, had made previous threats to slay the Harrison family and
his own wife as well, according to information given officers who investigated the triple slaying.
"Kills Two Women"
"According to the story told reporters by Mr. Harrison, he had retired and his wife and mother-in-law were in the room with him and the seven children were in an adjoing room when Cheeks, who lives in Algoma, came to the house, broke in the kitchen door and entered. Mrs. Harrison being the first one he saw on entering he opened fire with his gun, which was a .38 Spainish special, and the first shot struck Mrs. harrison in the chest at the left side of the throat.
"Mrs. Harrison staggered back into the room and Mrs. Sizemore who was standing to one side was next shot by Cheeks who shot here through the head, the ball entering over the left eye blowing out her brains and causing instant death.
"While this shooting was going on Mr. Harrison had jumped from the bed and made for his shotgun which hung over the door leading into the room in which the seven children were. Cheeks made an attempt to shoot Mr. Harrison one ball going into the door and one into the corner of thw wall in the direction of which Harrison was standing. Mr. Harrison was able to get gun into action and shooting from one side he killed Cheeks with a load of shot which entered the face and chest blowing out his brains and tearing up his chest"
