Elizabeth Vida Walls Tilley, 82 years and 29 days, died Thursday, April 5, 2007, at the home of Jack and Mamie Whitten of Rock View. Born in Logan County, March 7, 1925, Elizabeth was the daughter of the late Dot and Stella West Walls. Elizabeth was a homemaker and loved to cook, raise a big garden, can and share with friends and family. A lifelong student of the Bible, her joy in the Lord was evident in the wonderful smile she had for everyone. She was active in the community and a faithful member of Delilah United Methodist Church, where she was past president of the United Methodist Women and had served as Spiritual Life leader, Sunday School teacher and Bible School helper. Elizabeth became a member of the Reedy Methodist Church at Uno, W.Va. (now called Simon), in 1934 and graduated from Baileysville High School in 1943. She became a resident of Oceana in 1952. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, John Raymond Til-ley, in 1966; and four sisters, infant sister, Fostina Walls, Lavonia Toler, Lorraine Wickline and Anna Belcher. She is survived by two daughters, Karen Suzanna Hanham (formerly of Bluefield, W.Va.) and her husband, Richard, of Owensboro, Ky., and Mamie Hope Whitten and her husband, Jack, of Rock View. She is also survived by a sister, Margaret Terry and her husband, Bill, of Matheny and by a brother-in-law, Gillett Wickline of Pearisburg, Va. Additional survivors include five stepgrandchildren; three stepgreat-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive visitors 6 to 8 p.m. today, April 10, and 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 11, at Adam Toler Memorial Funeral Home in Oceana. A celebration of her life will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 11, at the funeral home chapel with the Revs. Rick Chester, Ralph Whitten, Glenn Hatfield and Ron Lee officiating.
