"When Noah Adair was born in 1858 in Grundy, Virginia, his father, Moses, was 28 and his mother,
Susannah, was 28. He married Spicy Stacy on January 14, 1880. They had nine children in 20 years.
He died on November 20, 1897, in Tazewell, Virginia (sic, Bradshaw Creek, McDowell Co, WV, See

"They Were Father and Son, Residted Officers and Were Both Killed
"On last Saturday afternoon Guy Waldron, who was acting as a special constableand summoned to his
assistance John Lester, undertook to arrest Noah Adair and his son Preston Adair, on Bradshaw Creek,
McDowell county, WVa. We are informed that the officers had a warrant for Noah Adair for a felonious assault
and for Preston Adair upon a charge of burning a fence. When the officers undertook to make the arrests the
Adairs resisted and both of them were shot and killed. The party who gave us this news did not know the full
particulars. The elder Adair had the reputation of being a dangerous man."
