My mother used to take me with her to visit him at t he mouth of Coon Branch, Matheny, West Virginia. By then h e was old and feeble and was being cared for by Aunt Lake a nd Uncle Andy Stewart who were living with him at the time . I remember Uncle Andy's boys, Alfred, Perry, Coy, et. al. , playing a game called "round town" with a sponge ball in the yard at Grandpa Charlie's house using the great tree s in his yard as bases. The house later burned down. Anothe r game they played involved one team tossing the ball ove r the house to another which tried to catch it. The secon d team was warned that the ball was coming, but they couldn 't "peek" to see when or where on the roofline it would fal l. If the receiving team managed to catch the ball on the f ly or as it rolled off the roof, that was a license to chas e the other team and try to throw and hit one of the opposi ng players, who upon being thusly tagged had to change side s for subsequent rounds. (The name of the game sounded some thing like "anytony over" Come on list, give me some help . What was the game?
